TALI
TALI is a journaling ecosystem designed to help teens aged 13-16 track and reflect on their emotions, unpack experiences, and learn about intimacy, all in a safe, approachable, and judgment-free space. Rather than offering rigid health content, it focuses on building emotional literacy as the foundation for healthy relationships and self-advocacy
Challenge
Designed an intelligent, multimodal experience that empowers people to engage with their intimate health
Class

OUTCOME
TALI- Talk about Intimacy and Love - is ecosystem is made up of three interconnected components: a portable device, a home conversational device, and an app, all designed to support emotional and intimacy literacy in everyday life. It focuses on building emotional and intimacy health literacy as the foundation for healthy relationships and self-advocacy.

Research insight
”I don't have the courage to talk about this with my mum or my sister yet.”
Teens are curious but under-supported, they lack the tools, language, or confidence to explore these topics safely.
“If I ever have any questions, I prefer to get my answers online. “
Teens avoid parents and institutions, turning instead to peers or the internet.
“We were taught about consent in 3rd grade, but like… what does that even mean at 8 years old?”
Teens find school sex ed too detached from real life to be useful or memorable.
Problem definition
Young people (13-16) lack accessible, trustworthy, and emotionally
safe ways to explore sexual health at the moment it starts to
matter.
They want guidance on topics like consent, boundaries, identity, and
intimacy, but feel unprepared, unsupported, and unheard.
So we asked :
How might we support teens in making sense of their sexual and
emotional health by giving them space to reflect on their feelings,
identity, boundaries, and scope of knowledge?

Transparency behaviors
Teens are still developing their digital literacy, and they need clear, honest information about how this system work and as well as practices that maintain healthy boundaries
- Maintaining a clear boundary, it's not overly friendly or human-like.
- Encourage real world support and connection
- Avoids over-validation, praise, and emotional dependency
- Honest information about how data is stored, handled, and protected.

Mockups of TALI branding strategy

PROCESS
We prototyped the interaction using a hall sensor and magnet to trigger TALI activation, paired with LED feedback and a scripted Gemini AI dialogue. Using Dewab and Supabase, we linked Gemini to Arduino for real-time responses. Predefined scenarios ensured smooth demos, with a hidden speaker and microphone simulating natural voice interaction.
